Community-Led Group Sale‘Trash or Treasure’ group sale was organised by the local Scouts association on behalf of the council who modified their usual date to fit with the Garage Sale Trail campaign timing. The Scouts benefited from a free venue and additional promotion through council channels. The Shire of Denmark Council benefited from the Scouts recruiting sellers and taking care of organising the event on the day. The group sale was also an excellent solution for people who did not want to hold a sale at their house, and for people on properties located far from town. Localised MarketingShire of Denmark used their previous two years of experience running the Garage Sale Trail campaign in their area to continue to grow the number of registered sales again in 2015. By using the marketing materials provided in the Garage Sale Trail Council Dashboard they were able to modify the designs to suit their local community using their local knowledge of what residents respond to the most. Print MediaFlyers were inserted into the local newspaper in the week of the event which listed all the sales happening in the area to make it easy for people to find sales on the day. This was beneficial for their older residents who don’t have internet access. Local councillors were also active in promoting the program, which was of great interest to the local paper. They also used the classified section of the paper to promote the event in the traditional garage sales section. Shire of Denmark Media ExamplesComments are closed.
